ECHR told Baku to provide information on Armenian prisoners by late January

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has ordered Azerbaijan to provide information on Armenian prisoners held illegally in Baku by the end of January.

Yeghishe Kirakosyan, Armenia’s representative on international legal matters, told reporters on Friday that Armenia expected to receive comprehensive information on the prisoners’ health, rights and detention conditions.

Kirakosyan also said his office was closely following the criminal proceedings against Armenian prisoners in Azerbaijan.

“A lawsuit filed by Armenia against Azerbaijan at the ECHR concerns the fabricated criminal charges against Armenian prisoners and their unlawful detention in Baku,” the expert added.
