China says ready to deepen security cooperation with Armenia
China is ready to deepen cooperation with Armenia in all areas, including security, says China’s Acting Chargé d’Affaires in Armenia, Chen Ming said Tuesday, July 30, Armenpress reports.
The diplomat made the remarks at the 97th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army of China, which was celebrated at the Embassy of China in Armenia.
In his speech, Chen stressed that the People’s Liberation Army has made significant contributions to the creation and development of new China since its foundation on August 1, 1927, and has played an important role in maintaining world peace and stability.
“China has been firmly committed to an independent, self-sufficient, and peaceful foreign policy, as well as to safeguarding national security. Seventy years ago, facing the horrors of hot wars and the blockades of the Cold War, China proposed the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. These principles were unanimously recognized by the international community and have since become widely accepted norms for regulating interstate relations. Today, amid the unprecedented changes of the past 70 years, China, adhering to its foreign policy goal of maintaining world peace and promoting common development, strives to build a community with a shared future for humanity,” said the Acting Chargé d’Affaires of China in Armenia.
According to him, the Chinese and Armenian peoples value peace and strive for it. Over the past 32 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, both sides have respected each other’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity while continuing to develop friendly cooperation based on equality and mutual benefit.
“In recent years, under the strategic leadership of the leaders of both countries, China-Armenia military cooperation has achieved significant success, making a positive contribution to maintaining peace and stability in the region. China is ready to further deepen exchanges and cooperation with Armenia in all fields, including the security sector, and to elevate bilateral relations to a new level,” concluded the diplomat.
