Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem delivers speech at re-opening ceremony of restored Jesus’ Tomb
ARMENPRESS – Jesus’ Tomb in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem was reopened after one year restoration works.
The Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem Archbishop Nourhan Manougian delivered a speech at the opening ceremony and thanked all governments, organizations and individuals for both moral and ynancial assistance in the restoration of the tomb.
The Patriarch asked to consider allowing the Armenian Apostolic Church to hold liturgies once a year in the tomb.
The legate of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiatsin read the address of Catholicos of All Armenians His Holiness Karekin II during the ceremony.
The tomb that Christians believe was where Jesus was cruciyed, buried and resurrected — ofycially known as the Holy Edicule — has undergone a year-long renovation.
The same Greek team that restored the Acropolis in Athens was chosen to restore it.
