Armenia denies opening fire at Azerbaijani positions
The Armenian Ministry of Defense has denied fresh disinformation by Azerbaijan claiming that the Armenian forces opened fire in the western part of the shared border.
“The statement disseminated by the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, alleging that on August 16th, at approximately 03:20 a.m., units of the Armenian Armed Forces fired upon Azerbaijani combat positions located in the western part of the border, does not correspond to reality,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
also reiterated Yerevan’s proposal for a mechanism to investigate border violation claims.
“Through diplomatic channels, the office of the Armenian prime minister proposed to the office of the president of Azerbaijan the creation of a bilateral mechanism to investigate cases of ceasefire violations,” it reminded.
