(Sputnik) – The chairman of the Armenian National Committee of Egypt said that Egypt’s parliament has plans to include a draft resolution on condemning the Armenian genocide committed by Turkey in 1915 in its agenda.
“[Egypt’s parliamentarian] Mustafa Bakri briefed the members of the delegation on the stance of the Egyptian Parliament regarding the Armenian Genocide, affirming that they are preparing to present the resolution on condemning the massacres by Turkey to voting. He confirmed that it is a ‘shame stigma’ for Turkey and all other governments must also condemn that inhumane massacre,” head of the Armenian National Committee of Egypt Armen Mazlumyan was quoted as saying by Armenpress.
In July, more than 300 Egypt’s lawmakers supported the request of journalist and member of parliament Bakri to vote on a draft resolution recognizing the genocide.
