Vartan Sirmakes: The Investor Behind The Caviar production Company in Karabagh –

Democracy is not the only goal for Nagorno-Karabakh. Very soon, Karabakh would turn into a black caviar heaven, to demonstrate to Azerbaijan that they not only despise dictatorship, they can also grow rich: “In five years, our Golden Fish will produce and export tons of black caviar,” Prime minister on Nagorno Karabagh Ara Harutyunyan said. Last year, Nagorno-Karabakh founded the Golden Fish sturgeon farm thanks to a Swiss-Armenian investor, Vardan Sirmakes, who was also the largest investor in the republic’s hydroelectric power plant.

Vartan Sirmakes is chairman and co-owner of luxury watch brand Franck Muller. Swiss resident Sirmakes, who was born in Istanbul, also serves as Armenia’s consul general in France (Marseille). Sirmakes is a large shareholder in ArtsakhBank and founded as is the sole shareholder of ArmSwissBank.
