Armenia’s population reduces by 3,200 people to 3,013,900 by late September –
ARKA – Armenia’s population has reduced by 3,200 people since the beginning of this year to 3,013,900 by early October, the National Statistical Service reports.
Of this number, 1,918,900 people live in cities and 1,095,000 in rural areas.
According to the statistical report, adverse migration balance (13,600 people) exceeded the natural increase (10,400 people) in early October.
An average age of the country’s population was 35.7 years – 34 years among males and 37.3 years among females.
Some 31,610 babies were born in Armenia over a period between January and September 2014 – 3.7% more than in the same period of the previous year and 21,208 people died – a 4.5% year-on-year growth. It means natural increase was 10,402 people.
According to the data received from Armenia’s information system of border electronic management, 4,131,100 people crossed the country’s border in both directions in Jan-Sept 2014 against 3,668,400 in Jan-Sept 2013.
The number of arrivals in the country was 2,013,480 in Jan-Sept 2014 (a 13.1% year-on-year growth), and the number of departures 2,117,670 (12.1% year-on-year growth).
