STEPANAKERT—A 3,000 year old bronze ring, in the shape of a heart, has been unearthed in Karabakh, reports Russian blogger Mazzoni Guide, who visited Artsakh this summer.
Describing the heart-shaped ornament – which appears to have been worn as a necklace – the blogger says, “This is a three thousand year old piece of jewelry. Today, the heart shape is ubiquitous, used as a symbol of love: on clothing, in pictures, and text messaging. But people have been using this symbol for ages. Looking at this ring, one must imagine that this is the first heart-shaped ornament on the planet; and it’s probable that even then, this ornament symbolized love.”
