Armenia has been ranked higher than its neighbors in an index attempting to measure “how much each country on earth contributes to the planet and to the human race.”

Placed 72nd by the report analyzing 35 different types of data from the United Nations, the World Bank and other international organizations and NGOs, Armenia is ahead of other countries of the region.

Thus, Georgia is 77th, Turkey is 79th, Iran and Azerbaijan are ranked 115th and 122nd , respectively.

A total of 125 countries were reviewed by the index that provides assessments on several aspects, including Science and Technology, Culture, International Peace and Security, World Order, Planet and Climate, Prosperity and Equality, Health and Wellbeing.

Ireland is assessed as the “best” country in the Good Country index, while Libya and Vietnam have the worst indicators.

The ‘Good Country’ concept and the Good Country Index were developed by Simon Anholt, a British independent policy advisor.

In the FAQ section of the Good Country Index website, the authors of the report acknowledge that it is “a very incomplete picture of the world”. “But it’s a start, and we welcome constructive contributions. It will probably never be possible to give a complete answer on any of these issues, but it’s surely better to get the debate going than to keep silent,” the say.
